Whitney Johnson is a voice actor who works with creators to bring stories to life. From audiobooks to characters for video games and audio dramas to e-learning, she brings a clear, energetic, and engaging voice that connects with listeners.

After spending nearly a decade working as an educator and acquisitions editor, paired with her background in performance and writing, Whitney has a keen ability to understand the core of a story and characters, develop the right voice and pacing to connect with listeners and bring them on the journey, and deliver timely, professional work.

Throughout her life, Whitney has studied the relationship between humans and the built environment - how we shape our world and how it in turn shapes us. From public transit to parks, live theater to poetry, she’s fascinated by how we build connections and tell stories not only through words but also in how we move through the world and share experiences.

Worlds held in books are part of that. She loves diving deep into understanding the world and characters and how they work together to bring an experience, and sometimes a new understanding, to listeners.

You can find her work as a narrator in WHERE THE DROWNED GIRLS GO (Macmillan Audio, 2022) and SHE PERSISTED: TEMPLE GRANDIN (Penguin Random House Audio, 2022). Her character work can be found in a number of audio dramas such as Kalila Stormfire’s Economical Magick Services, Fireside Folktales: Whispering, Coven Craft: A Disaster’s Guide to Magic. She also has experience in higher education e-learning.

Whitney holds a MA in Roman Archaeology from New York University and a BA in Classical Studies and Creative Writing from Tulane University. She studied voice and performance at Tulane University, Freehold Theater, and Seattle Voice Academy.
